This superb Yountville winery is owned by Christian Moueix who for a long time was in charge of Pétrus, universally acknowledged as one of the world’s great wines. Its Grand Vin is a Bordeaux style blend, however unlike Pétrus there is no Merlot used here anymore, just a large percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon with a smidgen of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The principal fruit source is the historic Napanook vineyard which contributes its name to the second wine of the estate. A methuselah of Dominus from the famous 1996 vintage is a rare find and will be a great addition to any wine collection.
