With a history that dates to the 17th Century, the estate was formed after the split of the original Léoville estate in to Léoville Barton, Léoville Poyferré and what is known to be the heart of the original estate, Léoville Las Cases. Ch. Léoville Las Cases retained 60% of the original estate with 98 hectares of vineyards on exceptional gravelly terroir, stretching from the village of St. Julien to the border of Pauillac. The heart of the vineyard is known as the Grand Enclos, a walled vineyard contiguous to Château Latour.
